A new report from Bloomberg suggests that the Apple AirPower charging mat is set for a September release. No prior mentions or announcements on the wireless charger were made during the company’s major education event or even during this year’s WWDC.
Bloomberg also reports “technical hurdles” in its development, causing delays in the product’s launch. The AirPower was first announced last September, with the purpose of charging multiple Apple devices at the same time, with the promise of a 2018 release date. Engineers were initially aiming for a June release, but have hit a snag as they are still working on its circuitry and “making sure the charger doesn’t overheat”.
Several new outlets have inquired the company about the report but Apple declined to comment.
