Multi-billionaire Bill Gates wants to build a futuristic community called ”Belmont”. Named after one of Gates’ investment firms, a new ‘Smart City’ is set to build in a 25 acres of land in Arizona. A group associated with a Gates investment company has invested $80 million in a high-tech planned development.
The community in Belmont will be designed around high-speed networks, autonomous vehicles, high-speed digital networks, data centers, new manufacturing technologies and autonomous logistics hubs.
Belmont is planned to span a space for 80,000 residential units and a population around 182,000 residents. They also plan to populate the city with around 3,800 acres of offices, stores, and homes while keeping around 470 acres for public schools.
Belmont Partners, the Arizona-based real investment group that’s leading the project, said it will be similar in size to nearby Tempe, Arizona, which has a population of 182,000.
Arizona has a reputation as being a technology-friendly state. Several major players in the autonomous vehicle industry — Waymo, Uber and Intel — are testing their innovations in the state.
Although this concept is hardly the first, India, Toronto and Saudi Arabia has already planned a similar concept and goal a long time ago.
