Instagram is rolling out a significant change that could improve how users share multiple photos and videos on the platform. Users can now add more content in a single carousel than before. The previous limit was only 10 uploads. According to the Meta-owned platform, this change makes it easier for users who want to add their “end-of-summer photo dumps.” The update also builds upon the AI avatar creation platform called Meta AI Studio, which launched in the US last month.

In a recent press release, Instagram announced that users can now add up to 20 photos or videos in a single carousel. This expanded feature brings more convenience for users who share a lot of content. It eliminates the need to split media collections into multiple posts, making the experience more seamless. Users can browse these carousels by swiping right on the app.

Instagram first introduced the Carousels feature in 2015, initially allowing up to five images. In 2017, Instagram expanded the feature to include videos and increased the limit to 10 items. This latest update doubles the limit, marking a significant improvement for those who frequently use this feature.

Other Recent Features on Instagram

Instagram has been consistently rolling out new features and enhancements, particularly for content creators. Last month, the platform introduced multi-track support for Instagram Reels, allowing users to add up to 20 tracks in a single reel. Additionally, the Meta AI Studio brought AI characters to Instagram. Users can create an AI-powered character with a name, tagline, and description. This information serves as the foundation for a mini chatbot.

Moreover, Instagram now allows content creators to generate AI avatars of themselves. These avatars can respond to direct messages (DMs) and story replies, offering a personalized experience for followers.
