X is working on support for editing direct messages. The social media platform has been adding quite a new set of features since the app was taken over in 2022 by Elon Musk, before it was still called Twitter. Reportedly the latest feature that can be introduced soon on X is the ability to edit direct messages, according to information provided by an employee on the social media platform.

X might soon allow users to edit direct messages

X employee Enrique (@enriquebrgn) claimed that the platform would start working on the ability to edit DMs. The feature is speculated to work along the same lines as the one present in other social media apps such as WhatsApp and Instagram, which let users edit sent messages for a specific time period. When a user was curious about if the same feature can be introduced to replies as well the employee said, “baby steps”.

The ones who have access to X premium have the ability to edit posts and comments. However if the dms are once sent, they cannot be edited unlike that of the messages in Instagram and WhatsApp. This feature is anticipated to be under development even though it remains to be seen whether it will be tied to the premium subscription or will be available to all the users.
