Elon Musk disclosed his desire to modify Twitter’s logo as part of a rebranding campaign for the social media network on Sunday, seeking to build a “super app” like China’s WeChat. In a message, Twitter’s millionaire founder said, “And soon we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds.” This information for relayed to the public on Sunday.
Musk elaborated, saying, “If a good enough X logo is posted tonight, we’ll make (it) go live worldwide tomorrow.” The social networking platform’s billionaire owner added in a message on the site at 12:06 a.m. ET (0406 GMT): “If a good enough X logo is posted tonight, we’ll make (it) go live worldwide tomorrow.”
Musk shared a graphic of a blinking “X,” and later in a Twitter Spaces audio discussion, when asked if the Twitter logo will change, Musk said “Yes,” adding that “it should have been done a long time ago.” Since Musk’s purchase of Twitter in October, the firm has changed its name to X Corp, reflecting the billionaire’s aim of creating a “super app” like China’s WeChat.
An inquiry for comment was not immediately returned by the corporation. Twitter’s logo, a bluebird, is described as “our most recognisable asset” on the company’s website. “That’s why we’re so protective of it,” it went on to say. In April, the bird was briefly replaced with Dogecoin’s Shiba Inu dog, which contributed to a jump in the meme coin’s market valuation.
When Musk revealed a few weeks ago that Twitter will limit the number of tweets per day that certain accounts may see, the business received tremendous criticism from consumers and marketing experts. The daily constraints aided the growth of Meta-owned competitor service Threads, which reached 100 million sign-ups in five days after its start.
The most recent difficulty for Twitter was a lawsuit filed on Tuesday alleging that the company owes at least $500 million in severance compensation to former workers. Since Musk bought it, the firm has laid off over fifty per cent of its employees in order to slash expenses.
