The ESA asked in a post tagging Mark Zuckerberg, “Do you want to start making rockets?” The European Space Agency got in on the memes and jokes surrounding the debut of Threads, Meta’s new Twitter rival app, on Wednesday. The account, which has 122,000 followers on the brand-new app, tagged Mark Zuckerberg in a post that posed the question, “Do you want to start making rockets?”

That remark received over 4,000 likes in 24 hours and seemed to mock both the Meta CEO and Elon Musk. The ESA has done multiple launches with Musk’s SpaceX, including Saturday’s launch involving its Euclid space telescope on a Space X Falcon 9 rocket. The success of Meta’s Threads, which had 30 million members as of Thursday morning, may have some wondering if Zuckerberg can succeed in other areas as well.

After all, Musk isn’t merely a billionaire who owns a rocket firm; Jeff Bezos and Richard Branson have both travelled to space. The message might also be a joke about Zuckerberg’s programme being a Twitter clone. Even before Threads — which caused Musk’s lawyer to write a cease-and-desist letter threatening legal action, accusing it of being a “copycat”—Meta launched a tales feature similar to Snapchat’s.
