Forget The New MacBook Pro, Apple Has Something Better

Maybe there is something better in the near future other than a whole new setup for a higher price instead of upping on specs.

One of the biggest qualms of Apple users about the Apple MacBook Pro is it not having a bigger screen. Users have been pressing Apple for a bigger-screened iPad for aeons. Contrastive to the MacBook Pro family, the MacBook Air is locked into a single screen, which cannot be tinkered with. If someone wishes for a macOS laptop featuring a bigger screen, they will have to turn towards a higher-priced and probably overpowered MacBook Pro. Well, this is what the public thinks, but Apple has something better on its way which is said to debut in 2023.

Apple has drastically expanded their iPhone portfolio in the last decade to facilitate all of its newest features, models & key specs. This brings an increase in sales but on the flip side, it turns the device into a buy decision more than a decision-based on personal experience. If one wants a bigger phone, they will have to go up a model. One great disadvantage here being one can’t really just choose one feature and leave the rest behind.

The exact same happens with MacBooks. If one is looking for a faster & more powerful processor, then one will have to move up the ladder to a different model which in turn costs a lot more than anticipated. This phenomenon is also known as the la carte approach, which has firm roots in the Apple market. This is said to change with the launch of Apple’s MacBook Air in 2023.

This MacBook Air will satisfy a demand that users of Apple’s laptops with a consumer focus have repeatedly made which is an expanded screen. These innovative laptops and the new display parts are reportedly being produced by Apple right now. If one is to ask why the new MacBook Air is such a fascinating device? The answer would simply be – as Apple will sell 15-inch MacBook Air models that use the same Apple Silicon M2 chipset as 13-inch MacBook Air models. As of now, if you want a MacBook with a larger screen, your only option is to upgrade to the 14-inch or 16-inch MacBook Pro models, which come with the traditional increases in performance and specs.

The 15-inch MacBook Air would seem to be just a simple display “swap.” There will undoubtedly be a price increase for the larger display, but there won’t be any additional costs because Apple includes faster widgets to raise the sticker price.

A point worth noting: As per some reports, Apple may offer the option to upgrade the processor in this 15-inch MacBook Air to the M2 Pro chipset used in the MacBook Pro line. It would be an odd choice by Apple if this were the only 15-inch option.  one can only hope Apple provides both the M2 and the M2 Pro for a larger MacBook Air if this does actually happen.

A recent update from February 18th reveals Apple is expected to launch a 15-inch MacBook Air in early 2020, likely to arrive no later than WWDC in June. This is likely to be the first step in the company’s plans for 2023. Mark Gurman suggests that WWDC will be focused on a new world, and Apple has already released smaller releases by press release rather than a large-scale event, making the April date less likely.

Apple is actively working on an additional significant project, a headset for augmented reality. As per Mark Gurman’s article for Bloomberg’s Power on Newsletter, the template of WWDC will be this brave new world. That makes the quiet April release date more likely, as does Apple’s recent preference for smaller press releases over elaborate events.

The most recent update from February 21st states, the 13-inch MacBook Air is the smallest macOS laptop available, which was available between 2010 and 2019. It was designed to be the smallest MacBook Air, easy to slip into a small bag, worked in an aeroplane tray table, and weighed in at almost half a pound less than the present M2 Air. Despite the advantages Apple silicon has brought to the company’s current Macs, it is impressive to see what could do for a smaller, lighter notebook.

Apple is broadening its selection of Mac laptops with the release of the MacBook Air to give consumers greater choices at every price point. Many will welcome this change even though Apple’s strategy is still substantially less modular or option-heavy than the competition. Considering that there are no extra bells or whistles added to the 15-inch option to increase the price. If Apple is expanding its line-up of laptops in one direction, surely expanding it in the opposite direction is also possible?
