The UK Ministry of Defense confirmed on Sunday that British army’s accounts on YouTube and Twitter had been hacked and used to promote cryptocurrency fraud. It is unclear exactly when the pirates took over the two accounts, but both seem to be returning to normal now. “We know about breaking the Twitter and YouTube accounts,” the Twitter press ministry said. “The Army Security Army is more serious and solves the problem.

“The hackers kidnap the Twitter page of the British Army and replace the image of the profile, biography and the company cover, and look with the NFFT, which holds it. The account posted various retweets for NFT payments and linked the pinned tweets of users to a fake NFT mining website. The attackers shut down the British Army’s YouTube channel, removed all of its videos and changed its name and profile picture to a legitimate investment company, Arc Invest. Hackers replaced the British Army video with old live streams with former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Tesla CEO Elon Musk. The live stream was aired as part of the Arc Invest conference at B Word last June, but hackers added a cover that tricked users into participating in crypto fraud. The TV channel aired four live broadcasts at a time, some of them gathering thousands of viewers.

As Web3 Is Going Just Big blogger Molly White points out, the scammers who took over British military accounts used the same tactics as the latter. In March, hackers hacked the Twitter account of MK Leo, one of Super Smash Bros. ’best players. Ultimate took over the world and used fake NFTs that claimed to be from The Possessions. Two months later, the fraudsters were able to steal $ 1.3 million using the same ark investor life that was used by fraudsters.” We take security very seriously – if the user believes that their account is violated, they can refer to our team to protect your account and restore control,” said YouTube spokesman in the message. In this case, we worked with the owner of the channel to make it happen.”A Twitter spokesperson, Rocio Vives, told The Verge that the British Army account had been “locked and secured” and that “the account owners have now regained access and the account has been reactivated.”
