Fitbit has made the concept of sleeping even interesting with its all new sleep feature: Sleep Profile.

This Sleep Profile feature provides a more in-depth analysis of a user’s sleeping patterns and habits. The updated Sleep Profile feature’s terms of deciding on a person’s sleep pattern is based on a few sleep parameters, which include information and timings of everyday bedtimes, the time before the person experiences a good sound sleep, disruptions while sleeping and many more. This new feature assesses all of the above mentioned metrics and provides the users with personalized and tailored recommendations and suggestions on how to improve their sleep and fall into the appropriate ranges for their particular body type, helping them enhance their sleep and general health.

The Google-owned Fitbit, before narrowing them down to the essential variables they have included in the profile, Fitbit’s research team analysed 1,000 distinct sleep aspects. These include both new and previously tracked metrics, including sleep duration, restfulness, and REM sleep. New metrics include sleep schedule variability, time before sound sleep, and interrupted sleep.

Fitbit Premium Sleep Profiles: What are the Sleep Animals and their meanings

Your chosen Sleep Animal will be determined using the information from your sleep analysis. This is what your chosen sleep animal has to say about your sleeping habits.

  1. Giraffe: This indicates that you often sleep for less hours and are more inclined to stay up late and wake up early. Despite having less total sleep time, you still get a good amount of deep and REM sleep.
  2. Bear: This indicates that you have a regular sleep schedule and that you typically go to bed at the same time each night. You might go to bed earlier than most people and have a restful night’s sleep. With a good share of deep and REM sleep, your sleep would likely be lengthy and restful.
  3. Dolphin: This indicates that you get up later than the majority of individuals do and that you sleep for shorter periods of time overall, maybe as a result of erratic sleeping patterns. This also implies that you take naps during the day to make up for your lighter sleep patterns.

  1. Hedgehog: If the hedgehog is your Sleep Animal, you often go to bed later and get up sooner. You are a light sleeper who frequently takes longer to fall asleep and as a result receives less REM and deep sleep.
  2. Parrot: This indicates that you don’t sleep too early or too late which means that your sleep schedule is often stable. You also frequently obtain a good night’s sleep every night and have a tendency to fall asleep easily. Due to brief awakenings during the night, you may sleep soundly yet only experience light REM sleep.
  3. Tortoise: You usually go to bed at various times during the night, but earlier than others. Because of this and slightly later average wake times, you might spend longer in bed but have a harder time falling asleep, which could affect your REM and deep sleep.
