The Meta owned instant social messaging and communications application has begun testing for their new feature, the Do Not Disturb API for missed calls. This feature is enabled only on iOS 15 and also makes use of iOS15 API.

According to WABetaInfo, which is a WhatsApp beta tracker, the Meta-owned messaging platform is testing support for a new iOS 15 API. If an Apple user misses a call due to Do Not Disturb mode, WhatsApp will now display a new label in the call history indicating that the call was ‘Silenced by Do Not Disturb.’ This information is said to be stored locally and not shared with WhatsApp. Also, the caller won’t be notified of anything, and it will remain on the receiver’s phone. This feature is now available on TestFlight for iOS 15 users, and it is expected to make its way to the App Store soon.

Therefore, this feature will be available only for users who have the beta version of the app installed in their devices. For iPhone users, the feature will basically add a new label to their call history, indicating that the call was hushed by Do Not Disturb. It will basically notify the receiver as to why he/she missed the call.

Initially, this feature is going to be limited to only the Whatsapp Beta users on iOS 15. There’s also no news or speculation related to whether this feature will be extended to the Android users or not. Only time will tell.
