The government of India has announced the launch of 5G services from 1st October at the Indian Mobile Congress (IMC) 2022. Companies like Jio and Airtel have decided on the cities that are going to get introduced the 5G service.
If a 5G phone is in your clutches and your city telcos have started to offer 5G services, one will be quick to use said technology and enjoy all of its perks.
If you’re in doubt about if your handset supports 5G or plan on getting the newest model to enjoy the upcoming perks, keep scrolling.

If a customer is in search of a smartphone and is wondering if their newest device is compatible with the 5G bandwidth, this is the easiest method to find it out. One should start by going to the company’s website, and clicking on the desired smartphone and its specifications. If it supports 5G the same will be mentioned in the ‘Network’ section. Let’s take Galaxy S22 Ultra as an example.
In specifications, it’s shown that S22 ultra supports – n1, n2, n3, n5, n7, n8, n12, n20, n25, n28, n66, n38, n40, n41, n77 & n78 bands. While in India the supported specs are – n1, n3, n8, n28 & n78. If one is in possession of a smartphone one can check if 5G is supported in the above method or go to check the bands listed on the smartphone’s box to find the supported bands.
An important point to keep in my is that not all 5G smartphones provide 5G facilities in India, even if they have the required hardware. This is because a software update from the maker is necessary to convert it into a functioning 5G handset.
Companies surely have started to roll out software updates to make handsets enable 5G, but there are still some device requirements which need to be fulfilled for the update to work. Samsung has revealed that all their devices will be 5G by mid-November 2022; while Apple has revealed that iPhones will start receiving their software updaes in December 2022.
